School Clothes, part 1

I have begun my sewing surge of the summer.
Time to make some school clothes for the big Kindergarten year.
The first item in the fall Bandelin collection is this Birthday Party Dress from Oliver + S.
I used some wonderful cotton from Lecien the My Folklore collection.
I didn't have quite enough so I used the same contrast as the tab on the facings.
I was going to bring the kids to the fabric store this morning to get some matching thread, but the Elder Hug-a-Bug said "No. I want red, not matching"
So that's what I did.
Now, truly, this post is a little premature, there are no buttons or buttonholes on the back yet, but that is no reason to delay talking about new fun sewing!

  4. That is one of my favorite fabrics, and I think it looks much nicer with a contrasting tab than with the same fabric.

Most of the time when I post pictures of dresses they still need buttons, whose to know 8-)

  5. I absolutely adore it! And think it's even better with the contrasting facing and red thread. Can't say it enough.

  7. What a beautiful dress. My youngest is so stubborn about wearing dresses or skirts...only shorts and pants for her. At least my oldest will wear them.
