Well, there has been lots of nursing and napping going on in my house, and not too much else.
Since I have been spending a fair amount of time on the couch feeding this little lady and passed out sleeping, I have been keeping an eye out for good tv.
First, as a fan of Aaron Sorkin The Newsroom show looks super exciting! It's like West Wing meets Sports Night.
Second, there is a new season of Doc Martin on PBS. It's really good so far, and I am quite excited to see Eileen Atkins joining the cast.
Also, Sherlock starts up soon, and that can't be anything but great news.
I haven't been on the couch all the time, however, in fact this week I helped chaperone the 2nd grade class trip to the nature center.
The Youngest slept most of the time, and was doted on by children and parents alike when she was awake.
We have a busy weekend ahead of us next week, including 2 birthday parties, a concert for me and a dance recital for the Eldest and the Younger.
Here he is modelling his costume and showing us his ninja moves.
Here I am showing off my mom costume and my ninja moves as well.
I have plans for some long walks this week, though I start back to work in the afternoons starting tomorrow, so I may have to maximize my napping time instead.
Have a great week out there!

Yarn Along
It's very, very early on Wednesday, so it's time for Yarn Along!
I just happened to be up with a sad, gassy baby. So, we took a trip to the pharmacy for some relief and now she's resting comfortably and I can talk about my knitting :)
I'm kind of stalled out on the Voluta. It could be the fact that the rows are so long, or that I haven't read the pattern for a while and I can't remember where I should stop for the armholes, or it could be the fact that I don't really like where I joined the body to the border.
Whatever the reason, I have only worked about 3 rows since the Youngest was born.
Come to think of it, it could also be that I just don't often have two hands free and the requisite brain power to knit...
In the reading column I took a week off from A Feast for Crows to finish up Blood, Bones and Butter which was terrific.
(please excuse my knee)
But now I am back into the world of Westeros and the story is picking up again.
What's on your needles today?

Baby Time Warp
I have found, during the past 10 days, that not too much is accomplished in our house due to the phenomenon we have labeled 'Baby Time Warp.'
One look into that little face, and time has no meaning. Suddenly you look up and notice that 20 minutes have gone by, but it seemed only a moment.
In other news, my status as Elderly Pregnant Person has manifested itself postpartum, and I got to spend the weekend in the hospital. So, I add a nice antibiotic to my daily cocktail of meds and vitamins and push fluids, and can hopefully feel much better in a couple of days.
Excuse me while I sink back into the Time Warp, have a great Monday!

Yarn Along
It's Wednesday, and that means it's time to yarn along with Ginny!
I haven't had much time to knit since last Friday when we welcomed our daughter here, but I hadn't shared this outfit on a Yarn Along yet, so I'll cheat a little and use this photo today.
I have been reading a new book this week, though I haven't finished A Feast for Crows. The new book is called Blood, Bones and Butter. It's very engaging.
What's on your needles and bookshelf this week?

Meet the Youngest!
We had a pretty eventful Maundy Thursday and Good Friday this year. As a church musician I usually do, but this year there was little singing involved as we were quite busy welcoming this little lady to the world.
The Elder and the Younger are in love, as are we all.
Enjoy your Easter! I know we will.

More than a glimpse
I do recall saying a bunch of weeks ago that this wouldn't become a pregnancy blog, but since I am not doing much lately that isn't knitting or gestating I don't have much more to talk about.
With that preamble, here is another glimpse at wee Threetus from our Seventh! ultrasound that we had yesterday. (sorry for the crappy photo, the scanner is broken)
All is well with this wee one.
Now I really can't wait to meet her and see if this photo does her justice.
This was my first 3-D ultrasound, and it seems a lot like magic to me...
Yarn Along!
It's been weeks since I got it together to join Ginny for Yarn Along, but I made it today.
I have been knitting and knitting and reading and reading for the past few weeks. It's been all George R. R. Martin as far as the books go.
Game of Thrones was the first, and now I am on the 4th installment of his series - A Feast for Crows.
These books are intense, and long, and full of fascinating characters and they're really hard to put down!
This is the beginning of my Voluta sweater, I have finished the bottom border and I am about to knit the short rows for the back. It's a lovely pattern, and I am thoroughly enjoying the knit.
So far, though, it's been only 37 or so stitches in a row, and now there are something like 300 stitches. My progress should be notably slower than it's been since I started this on Saturday.

Nesting
It's the 39th week of my pregnancy and I am doing my best to keep myself occupied in the absence of visiting any workplaces this week.
I have small bursts of energy and then it's nap time, so I am doing my best to harness the energy while it's here...
As you have seen, there has been lots and lots of knitting, a little sewing, and also reading and napping.
I hope to include some sanding and painting this week too.
My favorite nursing place for both of my sweet babies is an antique rocking chair and for about 5 years it has been in the garage having suffered an injury.
My friend the carpenter fixed up the broken rung and I recovered the cushion this morning.
It felt just right to settle into my rocker again. I don't know if I'll get to repainting it, but I did give it a good scrubdown last night, and it doesn't look too bad for all the neglect it has suffered.
(my husband would like it if I addressed the clutter as part of my nesting, but I don't know if that'll happen)
I am a sucker for cool construction techniques. These pieces are the bottom borders, and they'll join up at the back hem.then the sweater is picked up and worked bottom up from the border.
There is also a really well-written 1 row buttonhole that I think I will use forevermore.
I can hear the laundry calling, so I'll sign off.
Have a beautiful Monday!
