Yarn Along

Lots of knitting but no reading this week.
I have to finish Team of Rivals by mid-November, so I gotta get going on that one.
This stuff is all for clients. The tiny sweater is for a bear, and the other two projects are Christmas stockings.
My husband asked me this week why the giant pile of knitting stuff behind my chair keeps growing, and why I couldn't just work on one thing at a time and finish it up, thus keeping the other things put away while they waited for my attention.
I told him I just can't work that way.
Different situations call for different levels of knitting intensity.
Are you all the same way? or are you monogamous knitters?

  1. I go through knitting streaks. Sometimes I am all over the place with my projects. Other times I am monogamous. I think it depends on the project. I recently read that you "should" have several projects on the needles - an easy take along project, something that requires a bit of attention and one that challenges.

  2. I always have more than one thing on the needles. Like now :) I have two sweaters and two pairs of socks on my needles.
I LOVE those stockings- as in REALLY love them. I have this idea in my mind to knit stockings for everyone- and the one on the left is my idea of the ideal stocking- especially with the candy canes and holly!

  3. Sounds like me! I'm all over the place - I've been even worse lately. I think the variety on my needles reflects the state of my mind....I've been feeling a little cluttered lately.
    Your projects look great!

  4. Monogamous...me? No, I am totally A.D.D with yarn. I have two knitting projects on needles and about 4 UFO's in my crochet basket. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Your stockings are amazing! Knitting one thing at a time, that's funny!

  6. I am exactly the same - just like my herbal teas - every project serves a purpose. Lovely projects!

  7. Ha, I work like that too - husbands don't seem to have all that much understanding of it! :)

  8. I am so not a monogamous knitter! I currently have 2 pairs of socks, a sweater, 2 cardigans and a toy on the needles (3 of these projects are for gifts though!) and I've only just finished a scarf that was also on the go at the same time...

I need some variety or I get so bored. It means everything takes a bit longer of course, but it saves my sanity ;)

  9. I work the same way - lots of WIPs at once!! :)

  10. I have several things on the hooks and needles at once. I usually have a big make which I go back and to, a must make which I power through, a quick make to keep the "finished item" satisfaction, and a sock, usually a second one!

  11. I definitely have 6 projects going on right now. And they are all in different parts of my house, so if I happen to be in a room long enough, I can work on it :-)

  12. Yes, I am most definitely like you are with more than one project at a time. I would love to focus on only one but that will never happen.....especially at this time of year!

  13. Cute Santa stocking.

I currently have two projects on needles which is HUGE for me. More typical is the fact that I'm actually only working on ONE, which is why I usually only have one in progress--it's hard for me to keep track of what I'm doing/where I'm at if I have more than one going at once.

  14. Nope! Gotta have many, many projects going at once. It all depends on mood, portability, etc.

    Very nice projects!

  15. There is definitely a hierarchy when it comes to knitting project. There's the mindless one I work on at SnB; the more complicated one that's for working on at home; the sock that gets stashed in my pocketbook for when I have to wait places and need something to do with my hands...the list goes on and on.

  16. Beautiful work! No, I'm not that way with knitting, but I am with reading. I may pick some interesting non-fiction, but some day when I'm tired and want to read a bit I have to grab something lighter, etc., until I find I'm reading 3 or 4 books.
